Tape Migration Project:

Roxana Muise needs a recording savvy volunteer for a project.  She has many years worth of conference tapes, which need to be put on new media.  Whether going on to CD or into MP3 format does not matter.  What matters is that these talks be saved.  Many of the speakers have left us and these talks are all that is left of some of their work.  It would be necessary to catalog.  When her tapes are copied, there are many other tapes, which would be donated by others.  Roxana would like these talks to eventually be available online for low cost, especially for astrologers around the world with limited access to books.  Roxana and Maggie Nalbandian will work on donations and distribution.  They would like a WSAA volunteer to do the migration.  Let Karen know if you are interested at kwennerlind@comcast.net

Speaking On

The Dark Night of the Soular Return

In Astrology, this is associated with the month before your birthday - 30 Solar degrees prior to your yearly Solar Return. Based on the last phase of the Lunar cycle, it is a time for re-evaluating the past year, and see how it has contributed to your life path. You can use this time to locate and understand the gifts of the coming Solar Return and how best to develop them. To earn the knighthood offered at the Solar Return requires courage, tenacity, and conscious awareness. At this time you may feed and nurture your essential nature and (to borrow a term from computers) defrag your life path.

About Roxana Muise, Ord., BSc, C.A.P.;

A consulting astrologer since 1970, lectures, tutors and works with clients to discover and embrace their life patterns using basic astrological techniques and practical metaphysical principles. She defined the Retrograde Shadow, and developed practical techniques for the graphic ephemeris. Roxana is an award-winning author, with two books, articles in ISAR’s International Astrologer, and is featured on many web sites, including her own: www.roxanamuise.com. Roxana writes on science, spirituality, health, mythology and astrology. She is advisor to ISAR and AFAN, and a co-founder of Kepler College.

New Board!

Elections were held April 10th at WSAA’s Annual Meeting.  Elected were:

President:Stefani Quane

VP: Roland Chaiton

Secretary: Melanie Farmer

A BIG Welcome to our new board!

The new board is still looking for 2 special people to fill the last 2 positions.

Treasurer: Open

Membership: Open

Greetings!

I'm the new President of Washington State Astrological Association. Over the past two months, my excitement continued to grow as I considered the opportunity to serve as President. I've got my north Node in the 9th in Cancer.  Being elected makes my Node happy.

I've got lots of ideas for the upcoming year:  zodiac theme-oriented monthly events, a bit more group discussion/interaction at meetings to break the ice and build a stronger community, as well as continuing the wonderful legacy set forth by Karen Wennerlind of top-notch national and accomplished local speakers. I hope you continue to find the monthly astrological event and workshop worthwhile to attend.

There's an old adage, you get out of something what you put in.  If you are looking for deeper connection, an activity to add to your resume, and/or to develop new skills, I invite you to consider being an officer/board member for WSAA. Our board has room for 2 or 3 more volunteers. Please consider joining the board.  My plan is to make the meetings personally meaningful, punctual, and fun.

We have an amazing 42-year old organization committed to quality astrological education and community building among astrologers.
With Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn. It's a great time to lay down the foundation for another 42 years of success. I look forward to getting to know you this upcoming year and serving your astrological group needs.

Email me or Karen Wennerlind today your interest in board membership!  (Stefani@lawlady.com and kwennerlind@comcast.net).

Many Blessings,

Stefani Quane

Out Going President's Message – May 2008

Hi Everyone,

We really enjoyed hearing Rhonda Busby’s talk about the Hellenistic technique for interpreting  “The Domicile Lord of the Ascendant”.  You all missed a great talk.

In May, Roxana Muise will be talking about the month just before your birthday each year and how to cope with it.  This is one of the talk’s she will be giving at this years UAC conference. Should be a fun topic.

Tell your friends, Antero Alli is coming in June.  Get ready for an outstanding lecture Thursday night and great workshop on Saturday.  These events are both very approachable to all astrology students.  Pick up some flyers to distribute to your Astro friends, classmates, local bookstores.  Lets have lots of folk attend for this workshop, really top-notch!

May brings out more fiscal responsibility. The May 5th new moon has an earth grand trine, with Venus, Pluto and Saturn. Notice how we are being asked to transform our desires.  Be practical in our purchases, to think and buy green,  from recycling empty printer cartridges, to spiral light bulbs, to bamboo flooring.  How are you evaluating your “real” needs and how are they changing?  In the Pacific NW, we will feel like we still have some control over our financial and physical lives.  Just knowing that we can do our part, for the world, and for ourselves, helps us Left Coasters, continue building.

On a national level, the attitude is not so hopeful.  Look for information revealed about the national economy, dollar, debt, diesel, as well as trading partners that has been hidden, withheld, or whitewashed.  The big money power machine will be out in force telling us we can’t believe what is clearly in front of us.  A key to navigating these stories is to use your own powers of discernment, to make decisions based on your own values and goals. Think locally, really local – how about just you.

And yes, keep your power to yourself.

Many Blessings,

Karen

Speaking On

Planetary Forces as Sexual Realities

Astrology and astrologers seem to shy away from addressing specific sexually related issues. Why is this? I think it stems in part from culturally conditioned misrepresentations about the human sexual experience itself.

When not practicing or teaching astrology, Antero makes films. His new film (which he also stars in), "THE INVISIBLE FOREST", has its Seattle premiere Sunday, June 15th, at 2pm at the Northwest Film Forum, 1515 12th Avenue

June 14th, 2008 - Saturday Workshop with Antero Alli:  “The Transit Clinic” 10-6pm $45 for members, $55 non-members
